According to Ozwald..., "I have the utmost desire to bring the brand here- Lagos , Nigeria. They say in every five African, one is a Nigerian. So if you are not providing for the Nigerian market, you are in trouble...”
He also revealed his intention of starting a female line saying. “I have a 13 year old daughter who keeps insisting that I make clothes for her. So it’s something I am working on.”
“A Man’s Story” captures the dark moments of Boateng’s life and also beams into the future, and the success he has recorded as the first black designer to take over England.
The CEO of Okhma Global Ltd, Mary Ephraim states, “This movie is very inspirational. The Movie’s release will be heralded by a grand premier and a spectacular fashion display of Ozwald’s best works. We are quite excited about this.’’ The movie production has taken twelve years to come to fruition which initially had a six week plan.
ABOUT OZWALD BOATENG
Ozwald Boateng was born in London in 1968, the youngest son of Ghanaian immigrants. His father, a head teacher, wore immaculate suits and Ozwald received his own first suit at the age of five: double-breasted and in purple mohair.
At 16, Ozwald Boateng fell in love with an artist and, reluctantly helped her to make clothes for a fashion show, at the time he never taught tailoring would be part of his life.
A few years later he went, for the first time, to Savile Row, the most famous tailoring street in the world. He met by chance Tommy Nutter, who had made suits for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones: Ozwald suddenly visualized his own future, he would be a tailor.
He earnestly began working towards his goal in a studio on the Portobello Road, which he opened in 1991 at the age of 23. Over the next few years he developed his design philosophy. In 1994, he was the first tailor to present a collection on the Paris catwalk. At the end of 1994, Ozwald Boateng opened his first store on Vigo Street, just off Savile Row, and became the youngest and first black tailor to have a store on the row.
