5 Hair Removal Tips To Help You Stay GLAM This Summer!
Summer is here and with it comes the opportunity to show a little skin. Here are some tips to help you get smooth, hair-free skin just in time for the season’s sizzling temperatures.
1. Keep skin hydrated and protected.
It probably seems like moisturize is becoming an overused word in the beauty world, but it’s so important to keep your hair, skin and body hydrated. Right after shaving, you should use a fragrance-free moisturizer or even coconut oil to avoid chaffing. Moisture also helps minimize irritation after a waxing treatment. And to put it plainly, dry skin is an absolute beauty faux pas (a total SHAM!).
Also, always wear SPF…this is in the Beauty Bible.
2. If you get a wax, make sure your spa technician doesn’t double dip.
One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing a spa professional use the same stick in a huge container of wax that they’ve used on multiple clients. It’s unsanitary and just plain gross! They should use a new stick after each time they apply the wax to your body, or either use a separate canister of wax for each person. Don’t be afraid to bring this to their attention if they aren’t. I squirm at the thought of having the same wax applied to my eyebrows that was used for someone’s Brazilian!
3. Exfoliate.
One of the best ways to avoid irritation and have smoother skin after removing hair is to exfoliate. You can exfoliate pretty much any part of the body. By doing so prior to a spa visit or DIY treatment, you’re prepping skin for the hair removal process.
Your bikini area is usually the most prone to ingrown hairs because the hair down there is usually more coarse than other parts of the body. You can use a gentle scrub to exfoliate skin a couple of days before waxing or shaving to alleviate that problem.
4. Always test depilatory products before use.
If you use a depilatory such as Nair or Veet, it’s imperative that you do a test area the night before you plan to use it. Although they’re usually safe on most skin types, an allergic reaction can occur (and you’d HATE for that to happen right before you’re supposed to head to the beach!).
Also, make sure you read the label because some products were created to be used on specific parts of the body. The face is a very sensitive place to remove hair so a treatment that removes hair from there isn’t ideal for a part of the body with longer, stronger hair such as the legs.
5. Try something new.
This past weekend, I tried a new enzyme-based hair removal treatment called the Depilar System. It’s a post-wax, threading or plucking treatment that helps stunt the growth of hair. After my legs were waxed, the spa professional massaged the Depilar cream into my skin and I was good to go! It’s painless and I got a free massage out of the deal. This treatment can be used anywhere on both men and women. Note: if you’re allergic to salicylic acid, this is not for you.
Depliar usually takes having treatments every 4-6 weeks over a 12-26 month period but if you do the math over a lifetime of salon visits, this could be a wise beauty investment. The price ranges from $20-$100+ depending on the area of the body you’re having treated. I love my results so far which shows it pays to be open to new (and sometimes more efficient) hair removal procedures.

Do You Wear Makeup to the Gym?
Raise your hand if you applied any makeup before hitting the gym. Before stepping foot on the treadmill, I apply a dab of lip balm and make sure I have on a pair of earrings. I refuse to leave the house without the two. And it seems I’m not alone. A recent poll shows 7 out of 10 women admit they apply makeup before going to work out.
The poll also reveals mascara is the most popular workout wonder with two out of five women admitting they apply mascara to their lashes before doing any form of exercise in public. Foundation comes in second and lipgloss comes in third.
With pictures of Lala, Kelly Rowland and other celebrities going to the gym all dolled up, many women feel pressure to look good even at the gym. Not to mention the fact that some ladies see it as a viable place to meet men. For other women, looking their best gives them more motivation and confidence throughout their workout. And looking good means applying some form of makeup even if they’re going to sweat that mascara and foundation off as soon as they start to move.
If you must wear makeup to the gym, here are a few tips to still look great while breaking a sweat:
1. For your lips, try a moisturizing balm instead of lipstick.
2. Use a tinted moisturizer to even skin tone without risking a cakey look that can occur from sweating through foundation.
3. Use waterproof mascara.
4. Use a bandanna or a sweat band to help control your sweat. It will keep both your hair and sweat out of your eyes while you get your workout on.

INTERNATIONAL SEEN - Hermés Birkin bag for babies? Tribute to popular bag made out of LEGO
It is one of the most coveted
handbags of all time, but with a price tag of around £8,000 the Hermés
Birkin bag isn't quite within every fashionista's price range (unless
you're Victoria Beckham whose collection is worth a reported £1.5m).
But for arm candy fans on a budget, online handmade marketplace Etsy is selling a replica version of the much lusted after bag.
There's just one catch: it is made out of Lego.
The 20 x 26 x 13 cm bag, which would
make a great Christmas gift for stylish children, is described on the
site as 'fully functional' and 'designed for everyday use'.
The £89 bag can be made to order in a variety of colours and is made from brand new lego.
Prestigious luggage and
accessories firm Hermés, who count many of the world's wealthiest women as
fans, is known for luxury leather accessories.
Renowned for its immaculate finish and top quality materials, Hermès claims never to use any assembly lines with one craftsperson making a single handbag at a time, hand-stitching individual pieces to create the finished product.
The brand is rich in history, and some of its bestselling bags have intriguing stories behind them.
The iconic Kelly bag, one of Hermes most popular styles, was originally known as the Sac à dépêches when it was developed by Hermes in 1935.
In 1956, a photo of Grace Kelly, who had become the new Princess of Monaco, was pictured carrying the Sac à dépêches to hide her pregnancy.
Photographs were sent all over the world and put on the cover of Life magazine. As a result, the bag became known as the Kelly and has been hugely popular ever since.
The Birkin has similarly romantic roots, conceived as it was in honour of French star Jane Birkin.
The Birkin was allegedly created after the company's CEO Jean Louis Dumas sat next to the actress on a Paris to London flight.
Birkin had been discussing her difficulty in finding a leather weekend bag, explaining her ideal.
Shortly after, in 1984, the bag she described arrived at her flat with a note from Dumas. Although nowadays the bag can be made to order, the design is still one of the most recognised in the fashion industry.

Toy bag: The tribute Birkin bag is made out of Lego and is available on Etsy.com
The £89 bag can be made to order in a variety of colours and is made from brand new lego.
Describing the item, the site states: 'All the bricks used to make it are brand
new (i.e. straight out of the box, never played with and of course only
original LEGO bricks), so the bag has this amazing shine of new
bricks.
'It is very elegant, does not seem at all like a toy handbag.'
Spot the difference: The Lego bag (L) would make
the perfect gift for fashion savvy children, while the real version (R)
is worth around £8,000

INTERNATIONAL SEEN -Kim Kardashian shows off her famous curves in a series of lace bras, suspenders and silk stockings for boudoir-inspired French shoot
She has modelled several sexy looks during her time in the spotlight. But Kim Kardashian's latest photo shoot for French magazine Factice could be one of her most daring yet. The 32-year-old displays her world-famous curves in several boudoir-inspired ensembles.
First up Kim raises temperatures in a racy lace bra and panty set complete with suspenders and cream silk stockings. The brunette beauty's ensemble is topped off with a luxurious-looking fur coat and and giant diamond and enamel floral ring and matching bracelet. With her famous full lips heavily glossed, Kim does her best pout and smouldering stare for the camera.
This time instead of wearing her glossy locks down, she has them tousled up in a messy bedhead style. In another snap, Kim wears her hair down in a somewhat Fifties voluminous style. And the reality star is certainly every inch the pin-up girl in a beige satin lingerie set, this time paired with a darker fur coat and sky-high Christian Louboutin heels.
Kim's shoot also switches to playful, as she changes into a cream sheer set with a sleeveless shirt worn over her top half and tied at the waist.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashian's star pushes her already ample cleavage together creating even more lift.
The coquettish look is completed with a feather boa and a wide-brimmed hat.
